The On-Air Advocate

Jan 2, 2020

As we continue our month long focus on National Family Caregivers Month, I am so excited to welcome Jessica Ceisel, mother, caregiver & parent advocate. As a warrior mama to Makayla (8) and Mason (10), Jessica believes that while you cannot control what happens to you, you can control how you react to it. Makayla is a medically complex child living with a rare genetic disease known as Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia- PCD. The celia in Makayla’s body do not function properly and cannot move mucus. This causes frequent respitory and sinus infections. Each day Makayla has a minimum of two hours of treatments to keep her lungs and sinus cavities clear and to help prevent infection.Jessica is Makayla’s full time caregiver managing her surgeries and treatments. She also volunteers at the hospital and brings awareness to Primary Ciliary Dyskensia through story telling. Listen as Jessica transparently shares her caregiver journey.
